Saab Trionic 8 ECU cloning using IO Terminal tool

It's very common to have a failed injector driver on the Saab Trionic 8 ECU due to the ECU location, it's mounted on the engine so it gets very hot and is also exposed to lots of vibration, a very bad design. We were asked to clone a Saab Trionic 8 ECU by a client of ours who ran in to a problem whilst trying to clone it using Flex. Unfortunately he damaged the board during opening as the internal design of this ECU is not like a normal ECU.

We found that none of the newer tuning tools had support for this old ECU, however MPPS and IO Terminal could both connect to the ECU. We chose to use IO Terminal for the cloning procedure because it was also able to clone the emulated EEPROM which is required for a complete clone so that the engine can start.
